Announced October 8, 2026, the federal National Heat Pump Rebate will pay up to $10,000 to households below median income and $2,000 to other eligible households for an electric cold-climate air-source heat pump. It can be combined with provincial programs. Applications are expected to open in early 2027.
The rebate is part of a $2 billion package to support up to one million home retrofits, with up to 820,000 households expected to receive heat pump rebates[1].

What to do now
Retroactivity is not confirmed, so do not rely on it. If you need a heat pump this winter, use your provincial program now: Ontario, Nova Scotia or Alberta. We will update this page when applications open.
